The Greyler and the Dragon
Long, long ago in the early days of the kingdom, the inhabitants of a small village south of the Rimmerins Ring lived in fright and despair. They suffered under the moods of an invincible monster, a mighty dragon that is, who had made his lair up in the nearby mountains. He lived there on top of the cliffs of what among the locals is known as the "Great Watcher", a mountain of frightening height, seemingly growing out of nowhere, steep, intimidating, unrelenting.
From his lair the dragon used to fly his deadly assaults on the livestock of the farmers grazing in the fields, as the sheep and cattle the people bred were fat and delicious, just
There once lived a clock-maker in the Manthrian town of Marcogg, who was known for his very dedicated and precise work throughout the lands. It was even said that each clock he constructed with his own hands was without flaw and would last for the whole lifetime of its proprietor, not needing any repairs. Well, needless to say that many nobles commissioned clocks from this miraculous clock-maker, who knew his profession so well.
Theres also a story about a noble, who possessed a very precious pocket-watch himself, a watch he had inherited from his father. Its watch-case was made of the finest gold and had little gems instead of figures
Oh my Mistress!
The storm breaks through this asking window,
clutching shutters, slams them aloud for keeping still;
far off I hear his grumbling as he wanders upon my willows,
and know for sure, hell strike again and yes, he will.
Whence did he come, this neither friend nor foe of yours?
Who was the stranger, unleashing his forsaken might?
The sky grows darker, still my mind thinks even worse,
and my writing hand is all consumed by night.
Oh my dearest Mistress!
Why didst Thou let the traitors voice so loose?
Why must a distant howl grow more close and fierce?
Too long Ive been sleeping, now woke up confu
Come and dance, my graceful children, dance,
dance around the black knight's fiery lance!
All his ghastly life he rode with her to battle,
pierced friend'n foe - now himself he's bony rattle,
he drove his weapon right here into the earth -
pray, Soulgryph: See to judge the vile man's worth!
Gather around, my friends, rejoice, let's feast!
The wicked grimace... at last its grin has ceased!
Oh yes, he had so many masters, killed with glee,
did the gruesomest deeds, grabbed bloody fees.
Greed and lust, death and demons of the night,
yield to this day, the Injèrá[1] shines so bright.
Behold the flame around that lance, see i

Hello and welcome to my humble DeviantArt abode!
Hope you like the one or the other item you see here. You'll get from me mostly fantasy works, be it a map, a digital drawing, some poetry or a story. I also do Flash and work on the occasional text-based adventure and role-playing games. For some reason I dabble in all of those art forms, one of the reasons being that I'm webmaster of a cooperative fantasy world building site, "The Santharian Dream", where we work together on creating simply the most detailed and comprehensive fantasy world since J.R.R. Tolkien. The project is completely non-commercial and every fantasy interested mind - arti
